Vividh Bharati Delhi

📖 About

Vividh Bharati Delhi is the iconic entertainment and popular music service of Akashvani (All India Radio) under Prasar Bharati, broadcasting on 106.4 FM for listeners across Delhi and the National Capital Region. Launched nationwide on October 3, 1957, Vividh Bharati was originally created as a commercial-cum-entertainment channel to counter the growing popularity of Radio Ceylon and to provide wholesome musical entertainment. Over the decades, it has evolved into a cultural institution, holding a special place in the hearts of millions of Indian households as the ultimate destination for Hindi film music and light entertainment. The station's rich programming schedule features a delightful mix of golden era Bollywood melodies, current film hits, light classical music, folk songs, radio dramas, comedy sketches, and interactive listener-request shows. Iconic long-running programs such as Binaca Geetmala (historically), Sangeet Sarita, Hawa Mahal, and Jaimala have defined generations of radio listening in India. Its broad appeal bridges urban and rural audiences, offering a comforting blend of nostalgia, humor, and musical excellence that transcends age groups. Operating from the historic Akashvani Bhavan on Parliament Street in New Delhi, Vividh Bharati Delhi combines terrestrial FM broadcasting on 106.4 MHz with modern digital HLS streaming infrastructure. Listeners can tune in terrestrially or access the service globally via Akashvani's digital web portals and mobile applications like NewsOnAir, ensuring that the service continues to thrive as the melodious heartbeat of the nation.
