Akashvani Suratgarh

📖 About

Akashvani Suratgarh is a prominent regional radio station of Akashvani (All India Radio), operated by India's national public service broadcaster, Prasar Bharati. Commissioned on February 22, 1981, the station was established to provide public radio service to Suratgarh and the extensive agricultural heartlands of the Sri Ganganagar and Hanumangarh districts in northern Rajasthan. Operating primarily on 918 kHz Medium Wave (AM), the station plays a crucial role in fulfilling the informational, educational, and entertainment needs of rural and urban communities in the region. The programming offered by Akashvani Suratgarh is diverse and carefully tailored to reflect local culture while serving agricultural interests. A major highlight of its broadcast schedule includes specialized agricultural bulletins, soil and weather updates, and farm advisory programs that assist local farmers in the fertile canal-irrigated regions of northern Rajasthan. Alongside developmental broadcasts, the station offers news bulletins, current affairs discussions, classic and contemporary Bollywood film songs, regional folk music, literary talks, and interactive public health and welfare features. As part of Prasar Bharati's public service mandate, Akashvani Suratgarh plays a vital role in preserving and promoting the rich cultural lineage of Rajasthan through broadcasts in Hindi and Rajasthani. While continuing its historic Medium Wave transmission, the station has expanded its reach to modern digital audiences through global live streaming on Prasar Bharati's WAVES platform and mobile applications, ensuring seamless connectivity for listeners across India and internationally.
