Akashvani Pauri

📖 About

Akashvani Pauri is a public service broadcasting station of Akashvani (All India Radio), operated by Prasar Bharati from Pauri in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, India. Officially established on November 25, 1996, the station was founded to serve as a vital audio communication lifeline for the mountainous terrains and remote rural communities of Pauri Garhwal and surrounding districts. Over the decades, it has become an indispensable medium for disseminating local news, government announcements, and developmental updates across the hills. The station features a rich and diverse daily programming schedule that highlights the linguistic and cultural heritage of Garhwal. Broadcasting in Hindi and regional Garhwali dialects, Akashvani Pauri delivers national and local news bulletins, current affairs talk shows, Indian classical music, and traditional folk songs ('Lok Geet' and 'Chaiti'). Specialized broadcast segments focus heavily on rural upliftment, mountain agriculture, horticulture, weather advisories for hilly areas, public health campaigns, and educational programs tailored for local youth and students. Reaching listeners across both terrestrial AM (1602 kHz) and FM (100.1 MHz) frequencies, Akashvani Pauri also extends its broadcast globally through digital HLS live audio streams on the official Prasar Bharati and NewsOnAir platforms. Upholding Prasar Bharati's enduring motto 'Bahujan Hitaya, Bahujan Sukhaya' (For the happiness of many, for the welfare of many), the station remains a cherished pillar of public broadcasting and cultural preservation in Uttarakhand.
