📖 About

Akashvani Dharamshala 103.4 FM, formerly known as All India Radio (AIR) Dharamshala, is a premier public service broadcaster located in Dharamshala, Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh. Commissioned on February 23, 1994, the station operates under Prasar Bharati, India's autonomous public broadcasting corporation. Built to serve the diverse communities of the upper Shivalik and Dhauladhar regions, Akashvani Dharamshala has played an essential role in preserving regional heritage while disseminating crucial news, educational services, and agricultural guidance for decades. The station's programming is carefully designed to cater to a broad spectrum of listeners across urban centers and remote mountain hamlets. Broadcasting primarily in Hindi, Sanskrit, and English, along with regional Pahari and Kangri dialects, the station features national and local news bulletins, classical and light Indian vocal music, Himachali folk songs, drama, and sports updates. Specialized segments focus on mountain farming, horticulture, public health, disaster preparedness, and youth welfare, alongside interactive community talk shows that address grassroots socio-economic topics. In addition to its widespread 103.4 FM terrestrial footprint across Kangra district and adjacent regions of Himachal Pradesh, Akashvani Dharamshala reaches global audiences via digital live streams on the NewsOnAir mobile platform and web portals. Upholding Akashvani's national motto 'Bahujan Hitaya, Bahujan Sukhaya' (For the happiness of many, for the welfare of many), the station stands as a cornerstone of public media in northwestern Himachal Pradesh.
