WZYE 95.9 FM (Off-Air)

📖 About

WZYE 95.9 FM (formerly WZYE-LP) was a low-power FM radio station licensed to serve Maplewood and surrounding Essex County communities in New Jersey. Operating on 95.9 MHz, the station historically provided specialized multicultural and public affairs broadcasting focused primarily on the regional Caribbean and African diaspora communities, featuring Haitian news, Jamaican cultural features, house music, smooth jazz, and community sports. Throughout its operational history, WZYE offered an alternative, non-commercial media platform for local organizations and independent content producers. The broadcast grid included targeted talk programming, reggae, afrobeat, gospel, and community bulletin updates designed to connect diverse immigrant and local populations across northern New Jersey. In recent years, the station's broadcast operations ceased and its Federal Communications Commission (FCC) terrestrial frequency assignment was deleted or moved, resulting in the status of the station being listed as off-air and deleted from directory services. The 95.9 FM frequency in the immediate broadcast market has since been reassigned or deactivated.
