WGOD 97.9 FM

📖 About

WGOD 97.9 FM is a premier Christian radio station broadcasting from Charlotte Amalie, serving listeners across St. Thomas and the entire U.S. Virgin Islands. The station's history dates back to August 13, 1985, when founders Reynald Charles, John T. Williams, and Charles Saunders of the Third Angel Corp acquired the former WIBS-FM frequency with the vision of establishing a dedicated 24-hour religious broadcasting network to address social and economic challenges in the territory. Following years of community service and regional growth, ownership transitioned to the North Caribbean Conference of Seventh-day Adventists Broadcasting Corporation, cementing its role as a spiritual cornerstone of the islands. Programming on WGOD 97.9 FM features a seamless blend of uplifting Christian music, Bible-based teaching programs, inspiring devotionals, and live community discussions. Signature weekday shows include 'Rise & Shine' with Pastor G, the afternoon worship block 'Afternoon Praise' hosted by Ronnie Greenaway, and the community-focused interview program 'Chit Chat' with Auntie Pattie Patt. Operating under station manager Danhugh Gordon from its studios at Estate Dorothea, the station combines a powerful 50,000-watt FM signal with online streaming platforms and digital mobile apps to reach local residents and the global diaspora.
