WALY 100.1

📖 About

WALY (100.1 MHz) is a commercial FM radio station licensed to Altoona, Pennsylvania, serving the Central Pennsylvania region including Altoona and State College with an adult contemporary music format. Originally licensed and first starting its broadcast history on January 27, 1954, as WVAM-FM, the frequency has undergone several significant format and call sign evolutions over the decades. It spent many years as an automated Top 40 station, became America's first FM station to adopt the 'Power' moniker as WPRR in 1980, and later operated as Top 40/CHR outlet WWOT ('The New Hot 100') until early 2023. Following its acquisition by Seven Mountains Media (operating under Southern Belle Media Family, LLC) as part of a major regional cluster transfer, the historic WALY call letters and its signature adult contemporary format were officially migrated to the 100.1 frequency in March 2023. The station features a feel-good blend of mainstream pop, soft rock, and adult contemporary hits designed to cater to adult listeners, families, and offices throughout Blair County and surrounding areas. Alongside its continuous stream of music, WALY incorporates local news updates, regional weather reports, and community-oriented programming. Notable syndicated and local features, along with engaging personality-driven segments, have historically made it an essential companion for local listeners navigating their daily routines. Today, WALY 100.1 broadcasts with an effective radiated power of 3,000 watts from a tower located in Central Pennsylvania. In addition to its traditional over-the-air FM transmission, the station leverages modern digital multi-platform distribution, including official streaming options via its website and dedicated mobile applications, ensuring deep engagement with audiences across the region.
