Sci-Fi Old Time Radio

📖 About

Sci-Fi Old Time Radio is a unique, non-commercial, and commercial-free internet radio station dedicated exclusively to classic science fiction radio drama. Operating primarily out of the Detroit metropolitan area (specifically Livonia, Michigan), the station was established by hobbyist collector James Abron to share his personal archive of vintage speculative fiction audio. Entirely independent and run for personal enjoyment rather than monetary gain, the station rejects modern paid advertising and listener requests, maintaining a pure, curator-driven broadcast model that highlights the 'theater of the mind'. The station's deep vault features roughly 5,000 shows spanning the golden and later silver eras of old-time radio, predominantly focusing on material from the mid-1940s through the 1980s. Listeners tuning into the 24/7 stream are treated to iconic anthology series and legendary programs such as X Minus One, Dimension X, The Twilight Zone, Star Trek, and Alien Worlds. By concentrating strictly on science fiction rather than generalized fantasy, the station captures a distinct era when futuristic concepts, space exploration, and speculative tech dominated episodic audio storytelling. Utilizing automated streaming technology via SHOUTcast servers, Sci-Fi Old Time Radio broadcasts an accessible 64 kbps stream that reaches a global community of vintage audio enthusiasts. The station operates with a commitment to preserving and celebrating works firmly in the public domain, offering an atmospheric escape for sci-fi fans, nostalgic listeners, and those looking to unwind with classic speculative audio adventures.
