📖 About

Rewind 92.5 (WREE-FM) is a prominent commercial classic hits radio station licensed to Urbana, Illinois, serving the greater Champaign–Urbana region. Originally signing on the air on December 4, 1967, under the call sign WTWC at 103.9 MHz with an easy listening format, the frequency has undergone multiple historical evolutions. Over the decades, it transitioned through various formats—including a memorable stint as 'Oldies by Day, Rock by Night' under the WKIO call letters—before adopting its current identity as WREE in early 2015 under the ownership of Saga Communications. The station's music programming is meticulously curated to target generations of adult listeners, featuring an energetic playlist spanning major pop, rock, and classic hits from the 1960s through the 1990s. In addition to its year-round classic hits format, Rewind 92.5 famously transforms into a holiday-themed seasonal station, switching to continuous festive Christmas music during portions of November and December to capture local holiday audiences. The station's presentation combines familiar decades-spanning throwback anthems with localized community updates and engagement. Operated as part of Saga Communications' Illini Radio Group, WREE broadcasts with an effective radiated power of 16,000 watts from its transmitter located in Philo, Illinois. Listeners can tune in via the standard 92.5 FM terrestrial dial, online live web streams, or through dedicated mobile applications on iOS and Android, solidifying its place as an integral fixture of the central Illinois media landscape.
