Retro Album Rock

📖 About

Retro Album Rock is an independent, 24/7 internet radio station broadcasting from Nashville, Tennessee. Created and hosted by DJ Fred, a veteran former FM album-oriented rock (AOR) disc jockey, the station was founded to recreate the authentic, freeform spirit of 1970s and early 1980s rock broadcasting. Tired of the narrow, repetitive playlists typical of commercial classic rock radio, DJ Fred launched Retro Album Rock on the Live365 network to provide rock purists with an unconstrained exploration of album-oriented rock heritage. The station's programming focuses on an eclectic mix of classic rock, progressive rock, hard rock, and singer-songwriter cuts spanning from the late 1960s through the early 1980s. Rather than relying solely on chart-topping singles, Retro Album Rock digs deep into album vinyl archives to play B-sides, forgotten one-hit wonders, live tracks, and lesser-known works by seminal artists like Led Zeppelin, Yes, Pink Floyd, Genesis, and Steely Dan. A standout feature of the station is its weekly 'Feature Year' spotlight, which dedicates music sets to a specific year in rock history while weaving in retro pop culture references, news headlines, movie soundbites, TV memories, and sports highlights from that exact era. Operating out of Music City, Retro Album Rock reaches a worldwide audience of classic rock aficionados through digital audio streams on Live365, official directory partners, and mobile platforms. The station combines high-fidelity streaming with passionate, host-driven music curation, offering a nostalgic yet refreshing audio archive for listeners who appreciate the depth and narrative of full-length rock albums.
