Pirate Radio 104.7

📖 About

Pirate Radio 104.7 (call sign: KELS-LP) is a low-power, community-oriented radio station licensed to Greeley, Colorado, serving the broader Greeley–Fort Collins area. Officially receiving its license to cover in May 2005 from a construction permit originating in 2003, the station has cultivated a distinct niche in northern Colorado. Owned and operated by Plymouth Gathering, Inc., KELS-LP is widely known for its volunteer-driven approach and unique programming style. The station's musical identity focuses heavily on nostalgic music, oldies, and a diverse variety format spanning several decades, featuring classic tracks primarily from the 1940s through the 1980s. Listeners can tune into a rich mix of vintage pop, rock, country, and specialty recordings that are rarely heard on mainstream commercial corporate stations. Its programming appeals strongly to longtime residents, music historians, and fans of retro hits who appreciate eclectic audio selections and localized curation. Operating with a low-power FM noncommercial educational allocation, KELS-LP has also drawn notable public attention throughout its history, ranging from localized community controversies involving management to regulatory scrutiny regarding advertising limits. Despite these challenges, it remains an independent alternative voice in the local media landscape. Audiences can access the station locally via 104.7 FM or worldwide through its digital internet streaming platforms.
