📖 About

MauiRadio.net is a unique, non-commercial, and independent internet radio station streaming 24/7 from the islands of Maui, Hawaii, since its launch on the summer solstice of 2018. Dedicated entirely to celebrating and preserving the rich heritage of Maui Nui (Maui, Lānaʻi, Molokaʻi, Kahoʻolawe, and Molokini) and Hawaiʻi Nei, the station functions as an experimental, educational, and cultural soundscape. Its programming offers an immersive acoustic journey, featuring traditional and contemporary mele spanning the past 150 years, slack key and steel guitar recordings, ukuleles, hula rhythms, reggae, and island-style consciousness music. Beyond its extensive musical curation, MauiRadio.net serves as an oral history and cultural archive, broadcasting stories (moʻolelo), chants (oli), and wisdom directly from local farmers, fishers, kupuna (elders), artists, and community activists. Listeners can explore significant topics concerning Hawaiian history—such as the Hawaiian Kingdom's rise and overthrow, the U.S. apology, and the vitalization and revival of ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi (the Hawaiian language). The station also showcases original special series, historical recordings dating back to the early decades of the 20th century, and voices of community members sharing island life past and present. Broadcasting entirely online without terrestrial advertisements, MauiRadio.net reaches a global audience via its official website, mobile streams, and even innovative virtual metaverse environments. Run as a non-profit labor of love dedicated to protecting and honoring Hawaiian culture, the station provides a continuous flow of acoustic aloha, connecting listeners worldwide to the heart, history, and heartbeat of the Hawaiian Islands.
