Magik FM (broadcasting on 98.1 FM) is Samoa's flagship commercial hit music radio station based in Savalalo, Apia. Originally launched on September 30, 1989, under Radio Polynesia Ltd by pioneering businessman Maposua Rudolf Keil, it established history as the first privately owned radio station in Samoa. Following the founder's passing in 2018, ownership of the station and the broader Radio Polynesia network has remained under the management of the Keil family. Over the decades, Magik FM has sustained its position as the premier mainstream FM station in the region, broadcasting to listeners across the main islands of Upolu and Savai'i. The station's programming is centered on Contemporary Hit Radio (CHR), featuring a high-energy rotation of current Top 40 international pop, urban, and dance tracks alongside popular contemporary Pacific and local Samoan music. In addition to continuous hit music mixes, Magik FM delivers regularly scheduled hourly updates on local and international news, weather alerts, emergency notices, and entertainment updates. Key shows feature interactive morning routines, host drive-time segments, listener request hours, and coverage of major national cultural events like the annual Teuila Festival. Operating from the FM Building in Savalalo, Apia, Magik FM maintains modern digital broadcasting equipment to complement its terrestrial FM signal.
