KXT 91.7

📖 About

KXT 91.7 (call sign: KKXT) is a non-commercial, listener-supported public radio station licensed to Dallas, Texas, and serving the entire Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. The station's frequency has a deep broadcast history in North Texas, originating back to 1950 as KVTT. Following a significant acquisition in September 2009 by North Texas Public Broadcasting—the parent organization of KERA-TV and KERA 90.1 FM—the station was relaunched as KXT 91.7, filling a vital niche for independent music discovery in the region. Programming on KXT is centered around an Adult Album Alternative (Triple A) music format, featuring an eclectic mix of indie rock, alternative, alt-country, folk, blues, and localized sessions. As an NPR Music affiliate, the station heavily promotes both legendary acts and emerging regional artists through signature local segments and specialty broadcasts, including The KXT Local Show and The Paul Slavens Show. It provides an open audio platform that champions independent music culture, setting itself apart from mainstream commercial radio formats. Operated from modern studios located just north of downtown Dallas, KXT 91.7 is deeply woven into the North Texas cultural landscape. In addition to its primary terrestrial FM broadcast, the station reaches audiences globally via robust digital streaming networks, mobile apps, and community-driven live music events, establishing itself as a premier destination for music enthusiasts across the Lone Star State.
