📖 About

KNEL-AM & FM is a long-standing, full-service local dual-frequency radio station licensed to Brady, Texas, serving Brady and the broader Heart of Texas and Northwest Hill Country regions. Originally launching its FM signal on August 21, 1979, KNEL has established itself as an indispensable media cornerstone for the community. The broadcast operation is split functionally across frequencies: KNEL-FM 95.3 delivers a robust 'Real Country' format featuring classic country hits alongside today's favorites, while KNEL-AM 1490 features a nostalgic 'Classic Hits' format spanning the 1970s, 80s, and 90s. Owned and operated by Farris Broadcasting, Inc., the station has built a legacy of deep local connection. Beyond music, KNEL acts as the primary daily news and information source for the region, providing vital local news updates four times daily, weather reports, and regional agricultural updates including the Texas State Network's Lone Star Farm and Ranch Report. Its programming lineup features popular community staples such as the Morning Show with Lynn and Tracy, the live buy-sell-swap show 'Tradio', local high school sports coverage (Bulldogs Player of the Game), and specialty weekend blocks. By faithfully combining regional news, agricultural reports, emergency announcements, and targeted music formats, KNEL remains an essential daily companion for residents across West-Central Texas.
