KNCT-FM

📖 About

KNCT-FM (91.3 MHz) is a non-commercial public FM radio station licensed to Killeen, Texas, and owned by Central Texas College. The call sign stands for 'Knowledge Network for Central Texas'. First signing on the air on November 23, 1970, the station has long served the Killeen-Temple-Waco-Austin region with a distinctive public radio format. Over the decades, as commercial broadcasters shifted away from easy listening and adult standards, KNCT-FM carved out a unique niche by preserving and championing the genre, branded locally as 'Simply Beautiful'. Its programming focuses primarily on soothing instrumental selections, soft adult contemporary tracks, and light classics designed to offer a relaxing listening experience. Operated directly from the campus of Central Texas College, the station fulfills an important educational and cultural mission for the community. In addition to its primary analog broadcast and main HD1 channel featuring easy listening music, KNCT-FM utilizes digital HD Radio technology to broadcast a dedicated 24-hour classical music format on its HD2 subchannel. The station also integrates essential local news updates, educational pieces, and public affairs programming to serve military families, students, and regional residents across Central Texas.
