KIX 96 (WJCL-FM 96.5 FM) is a commercial country music radio station licensed to Savannah, Georgia, serving the greater Savannah metropolitan area, coastal Georgia, and the Hilton Head region of South Carolina. First signing on the air on June 18, 1972, under the call sign WJCL-FM, the station was founded by former Savannah Mayor J. Curtis Lewis Jr. (whose initials inspired the call letters). Originally operating as an easy listening station alongside WJCL-TV on Television Circle, the station transitioned to a full-time country music format in the early 1990s as 'Kix 96', establishing itself as a dominant broadcasting powerhouse across the regional airwaves. Owned and operated by Cumulus Media (via Cumulus Licensing LLC), KIX 96 broadcasts on 96.5 MHz with a full Class C effective radiated power of 100,000 watts. Its transmitter is situated on Fort Argyle Road west of the city in Chatham County, serving as the secondary Emergency Alert System station for the region. The station's daily programming mix features modern country hits, contemporary country superstars, and popular syndicated morning broadcasts including the Kincaid & Dallas morning drive show originated from sister station WKHX in Atlanta. Over its multi-decade history, KIX 96 briefly adopted the corporate '96.5 Nash FM' branding between 2013 and late 2015 before restoring its legendary heritage title on December 4, 2015.
