Get Known Radio (GKR)

📖 About

Get Known Radio (GKR) is an independent, 24/7 listener-supported internet radio station and digital media outlet centered in Detroit, Michigan, with operational extensions in New York and London. Established in 2022, the station was built around a distinct editorial mission: to provide an open, human-curated platform for rising, unsigned, and under-represented talent who rarely break into corporate streaming algorithmic playlists. GKR actively bridges the gap between global underground sound cultures and modern urban music enthusiasts. The station's program rotation delivers a hand-curated mix of new Hip-Hop, Electronic (including House, Techno, Club, and Ambient), R&B, and genre-blurring experimental music. Approximately 60% of GKR's playlist is dedicated to independent and unsigned producers and artists submitted directly through the station's portal or sourced from independent release feeds on SoundCloud and Bandcamp. The remainder features curated major-label releases, DJ mix sessions, chop-and-screw edits, and archival deep cuts. Every track undergoes human review for production fidelity and editorial fit prior to airing. In addition to its round-the-clock commercial-free music stream, Get Known Radio operates an editorial news desk and media platform. The station publishes daily headlines, music reviews, artist spotlights, and guest DJ mix features. Operating without paid song placement or commercial advertising networks, GKR relies on community support, listener interaction, and its global Discord network to maintain an authentic, culture-first platform for music discovery.
