GBI Radio

📖 About

WYZD, widely known as GBI Radio, is a dedicated Christian radio station licensed to Dobson, North Carolina, serving the Piedmont Triad region and surrounding communities. First taking to the airwaves in 1977, the station has a long-standing history of providing faith-based encouragement, conservative Christian values, and community connection. Over the decades, it has grown into an important spiritual pillar for listeners across northwestern North Carolina and southern Virginia, offering a comforting blend of traditional ministry and gospel music. The station's programming format centers heavily on conservative gospel music performances alongside thoughtful Bible preaching programs featuring local pastors, traveling evangelists, and historic preachers. Notable regular features include traditional southern gospel songs from beloved artists, specialized ministry blocks like 'The Gospel Pulpit', and educational audio features designed to foster spiritual growth. Through upgrades over time—including a power boost to 4,200 watts in 2013 and the addition of an FM translator at 95.3 FM in January 2019—the station significantly expanded its clarity and broadcast reach. Owned and operated by Gospel Broadcasting, Inc. (which also oversees sister operations like WCOK in Sparta, North Carolina), GBI Radio operates with a deep commitment to non-commercial ministry principles. Listeners can tune in via the traditional 1560 AM dial, the 95.3 FM translator, or globally through digital platforms, mobile applications, and streaming streams, ensuring that its vital Christian message remains accessible around the clock.
