📖 About

WBET (1230 AM), branded on air as Fox Sports Radio 99.7 FM & 1230 AM, is a commercial sports radio station licensed to serve Sturgis, Michigan. Originally signing on the air in 1951 under the historic call letters WSTR, the station has undergone several structural and call sign evolutions over the decades—including a period as WMSH from 1989 to 2009—before adopting its current sports format under ownership by the Swick Broadcasting Company. It primarily serves listeners across Sturgis and surrounding parts of southwestern Michigan and northern Indiana. The station features top-tier national sports talk programming provided by the Fox Sports Radio network, offering listeners 24/7 coverage, expert commentary, analysis, and up-to-the-minute updates on major professional and collegiate leagues. In addition to national feeds, WBET deeply connects with its local audience by serving as the primary broadcaster for regional sports content, including live play-by-play coverage of Sturgis-area high school athletics. To ensure crystal-clear reception throughout its coverage footprint, the AM signal is simulcast and amplified via an FM translator on 99.7 MHz (W259CR). Operating out of its studios located in Sturgis, Michigan, WBET remains a vital hub for local sports fans and community updates. By bridging traditional AM/FM analog broadcasting with modern digital streaming platforms, the station caters to a dedicated audience of sports enthusiasts who rely on it for both national sports debates and hometown high school game coverage.
