Fortress 1230 AM

📖 About

Fortress 1230 AM (call sign: WKBO) is a Christian contemporary radio station licensed to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and operated by One Heart Ministries. While the historic WKBO frequency dates back to standard broadcast roots originating in the 1920s, its modern iteration under One Heart Ministries represents a dedicated faith-based mission. Founded as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization by Pete and Tess Hamel on November 14, 1990, the ministry was created to ensure continuous, uplifting Christian broadcasting remains accessible to the Harrisburg community after local secular formatting changes left a void for inspirational media. The station's daily programming format features a seamless blend of contemporary Christian music, worship anthems, and encouraging devotional teachings. Listeners tune in for uplifting tracks from major Christian artists alongside thoughtful scriptural commentary, prayer segments, and messages of faith designed to strengthen the local spiritual community. It serves a deeply loyal audience across the greater Harrisburg metropolitan area, providing comfort, fellowship, and faith-centered encouragement around the clock. Owned and directed by One Heart Ministries, Fortress 1230 AM relies heavily on listener support and community involvement. In addition to its traditional AM terrestrial broadcast, the station streams its programming globally via the internet 24/7, allowing local congregants, regional travelers, and online listeners worldwide to stay connected to its message of hope and inspiration.
