📖 About

Elgen Nutag FM 96.9 (Элгэн нутаг радио ФМ 96,9) is an independent private radio station based in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Founded by actor and director D. Batbayar, the station originally commenced broadcasting to preserve and celebrate Mongolian culture, literature, and heritage. It gained notable distinction early on for pioneering live broadcasts of traditional events such as the Naadam festival celebrations, as well as Japanese professional Sumo wrestling matches featuring Mongolian athletes. Operating entirely free of major political or business affiliations, the station has cultivated a unique identity centered around artistic expression, storytelling, and cultural preservation. The station's diverse 24-hour programming grid features a rich mixture of Mongolian talk shows, news updates, folk music, traditional melodies, historical discussions, and educational content. A signature element of its early programming model included the production and broadcasting of 'radio books' highlighting classical Mongolian literature. By prioritizing national arts, poetry, and heritage, Elgen Nutag FM appeals deeply to listeners who appreciate traditional cultural identity alongside informative talk segments and public discourse. Headquartered on Mahatma Gandhi Street in the Khan-Uul District of Ulaanbaatar, the station transmits terrestrially on its signature 96.9 MHz FM frequency, with repeater branches reaching several regional provinces including Zavkhan, Uvs, Umnugobi, and Bulgan. In addition to its regional FM footprint, Elgen Nutag FM embraces modern digital infrastructure, offering dedicated mobile apps and live online streaming feeds that fulfill its overarching vision 'To reach the world'.
