Falklands Radio

📖 About

Falklands Radio is the primary local commercial and community radio station serving the entire Falkland Islands archipelago. With a distinguished broadcasting history tracing back to 1929, the station originated from early experimental transmissions before evolving into an essential public and community voice for the South Atlantic territory. Throughout its decades on air, Falklands Radio has documented the islands' unique social, economic, and political milestones, serving as a trusted local institution that keeps residents informed and connected across isolated settlements. The station's comprehensive daily programming features a diverse mix of local news bulletins, community announcements, talk shows, entertainment, and musical variety. Operating under the guiding slogan 'Bringing you and the Falklands closer together', the station broadcasts entirely in the English language and caters to the entire community, from urban residents in Stanley to farmers and shepherds living across the 'Camp'. Its programming covers local government news, weather updates tailored to maritime and agricultural life, sheep-shearing reports, and engaging listener-requested music blocks. Headquartered on John Street in Stanley, Falklands Radio transmits terrestrially on its signature 88.2 FM frequency, supplemented by repeater transmitters extending its reach across the islands. In addition to over-the-air coverage, the station embraces modern digital platforms, offering live online streaming via Broadcast Radio servers, dedicated mobile applications for Android and iOS devices, and active community engagement channels on Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter/X.
