EBIS Radio 1

📖 About

EBIS Radio 1 is the flagship SiSwati-language national radio service operated by the Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Services (EBIS), headquartered in Mbabane, Eswatini. Broadcasting continuously on a 24-hour basis, the station operates under the powerful national motto 'Liphimbo Lesive Eswatini' (The Voice of the Nation). Since its launch on April 19, 1966, it has served as an essential public service broadcaster, delivering comprehensive news bulletins, current affairs, traditional and contemporary cultural programs, educational slots, and community information designed to unify and inform listeners across the kingdom. The station's diverse programming structure caters directly to the local Swazi population, emphasizing regional heritage, national identity, and public discourse. Daily broadcasts feature extensive community announcements, developmental talk shows, national event coverage, and entertainment designed to educate, inform, and entertain audiences from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. EBIS Radio 1 also plays an indispensable role during major national functions, royal celebrations, and Tinkhundla democratic activities by providing public address systems and live on-air reportage that bridges the gap between rural communities and national governance. Operating from the iconic EBIS Building at the corner of Gwamile Street and Dzeliwe Street in Mbabane, the station utilizes a robust terrestrial FM network centered around its primary 88.5 MHz frequency. In addition to its traditional over-the-air broadcasts, EBIS Radio 1 maintains a modern digital presence, offering live audio streaming via its official web portal and mobile platforms. As a cornerstone of Eswatini's media landscape, the station continues to preserve national language and culture while keeping citizens closely connected to local and international developments.
