Ag News 890

📖 About

Ag News 890 (call sign: KQLX) is a prominent commercial radio station licensed to serve Lisbon, North Dakota, with its main studios operating out of Fargo, North Dakota. The station broadcasts on the 890 AM frequency and serves as a vital media lifeline for farmers, ranchers, and rural communities across eastern North Dakota, west-central Minnesota, and eastern South Dakota. Assigned its call letters by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in August 1984, the station has evolved over decades to become a leading source for localized agricultural news, market trends, and commodities reporting. Programming on Ag News 890 is specifically tailored to the agricultural sector, featuring extensive farm reports, weather updates, and market indexes through the Ag Central Radio Network. Listeners rely on its daytime broadcasts for up-to-the-minute updates on crop conditions, livestock markets, and national news updates via Fox News. To serve its rural audience outside of standard agricultural reporting hours, the station transitions during nights and weekends to a classic country music format. Over the years, ownership has transitioned through several regional entities, most recently anchored under i3G Media, ensuring its continued dedication to Upper Midwest rural life. Operating with a daytime power output of 1,800 watts, Ag News 890 bridges a crucial communication gap for agribusiness professionals who depend on accurate, rapid market data. Its team of experienced farm broadcasters and meteorologists—such as Mick Kjar and Erick Johnson—provide specialized commentary that directly impacts local agricultural economies. Accessible via traditional AM radio, its official website, and dedicated mobile applications, Ag News 890 remains a cornerstone of rural broadcasting in the Dakotas and Minnesota.
