Launched initially on Live365.com on December 31, 2009, the station was conceived as a vibrant platform to celebrate the deep roots and diverse influences of black music culture. Operating primarily from the Bronx and the greater New York City area, the network serves as a cultural repository and contemporary showcase for classic soul, vintage gospel, blues, smooth jazz, hip hop, and fresh tracks from independent R&B artists. Programming on the network is uniquely curated to bridge generational divides in black music, connecting classic legendary artists from decades past with contemporary soulful sounds. Weekly shows and rotating playlists highlight everything from retro funk jams and smooth jazz instrumentation to modern R&B hits. By championing both iconic legacy records and cutting-edge independent talent, the station has cultivated a dedicated global community of listeners who appreciate the nuanced history and continuous evolution of soul music. As a prominent digital radio network, A Bowl of Soul harnesses internet streaming technology to reach audiences far beyond the New York metropolitan area.
