📖 About

99.7 WSOK (1230 AM / 99.7 FM) is a heritage urban gospel radio station licensed to Savannah, Georgia, and owned by iHeartMedia. Originally signing on the air on October 30, 1946, under the call letters WFRP, the station served as Savannah's first independent radio broadcaster before transitioning into a vital cultural and musical outlet for the African American community in coastal Georgia. Throughout its history, particularly under minority ownership groups in the 1970s including jazz legend Billy Taylor, the station cemented its identity as a pillar of community empowerment, gospel tradition, and soul culture. Today, WSOK broadcasts an uplifting urban gospel format featuring inspiring music, local community announcements, and dedicated inspirational programming. The station's on-air lineup features well-known local talent, including Tracy Bethea hosting the morning drive. Listeners can tune in through its traditional AM signal, via an FM translator at 99.7 MHz (W259DE), or digitally across the globe via the iHeartRadio platform. As a long-standing fixture in the Savannah media market, 99.7 WSOK continues to provide faith-based encouragement and connection to its listeners.
