94.1 KODJ

📖 About

94.1 KODJ (call sign: KODJ) is a prominent commercial classic hits radio station licensed to Salt Lake City, Utah, and owned by iHeartMedia. The station has a rich broadcast lineage dating back to its original launch on December 1, 1968, as KALL-FM, the FM sister station to KALL (910 AM). Over the decades, the frequency evolved through several formats and call-letter changes—including a stint as soft adult contemporary station 'Classy 94.1' (KLCY-FM) in the 1980s—before officially flipping to oldies and classic hits in September 1991. The current KODJ call sign was adopted in December 1993, drawing inspiration from a legendary Los Angeles radio brand, and the station was later integrated into Clear Channel Communications (now iHeartMedia) in 1999. The station's programming is meticulously tailored to deliver an energetic blend of upbeat popular music spanning the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. Listeners tuning into 94.1 KODJ enjoy a nostalgic rotation of iconic rock, pop, and dance hits from legendary acts such as Queen, Madonna, Aerosmith, and Prince. In addition to its continuous music schedule, the station features engaging on-air personalities, local community updates, and popular syndicated weekend features like Casey Kasem's American Top 40: The 80s, making it a staple audio companion for music fans across the Wasatch Front. Broadcasting from studios located in West Valley City, Utah, KODJ utilizes a powerful Class C transmitter situated high on Farnsworth Peak in the Oquirrh Mountains, allowing its signal to cover the entire Salt Lake City metropolitan area as well as parts of neighboring states via a network of translators. Alongside its primary terrestrial FM broadcast and HD radio subchannels, the station is widely accessible globally through the digital iHeartRadio platform, successfully blending decades of broadcast heritage with modern digital streaming technology.
