92.5 MAXIMA

📖 About

92.5 MAXIMA (call sign: WYUU) is a leading commercial FM radio station broadcasting from Safety Harbor, Florida, and serving the greater Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater metropolitan area. Originally signing on the air in October 1983 as WXCR with a classical music format, the frequency underwent several notable format transformations over the decades—including long stints as an oldies station branded as 'U92' and later as a country music station. In August 2005, the station shifted directions to serve the expanding Hispanic demographic of Southwest Florida, eventually adopting its current vibrant Latin pop and tropical format under the Maxima branding in October 2008. Today, 92.5 MAXIMA is owned and operated by Beasley Media Group (following a station swap with CBS Radio in 2014). Its programming features an energetic blend of Spanish contemporary hits, Latin pop, reggaeton, salsa, bachata, and tropical rhythms. The station serves as a cultural cornerstone for the region's dynamic Hispanic community, keeping listeners connected with popular upbeat programming, engaging on-air personalities, and exclusive features highlighting superstar Latin artists. In addition to its primary terrestrial broadcast on 92.5 FM, the station utilizes HD radio technology, offering specialized digital subchannels like Playa 106.9 on its HD2 feed. Accessible via standard radio receivers, its official website, and dedicated mobile applications on iOS and Android platforms, 92.5 MAXIMA remains an essential media outlet and community voice across the Tampa Bay area.
