KUNV (91.5 FM), branded on-air as '91.5 Jazz and More', is a non-commercial, listener-supported public radio station licensed to Las Vegas, Nevada, serving the entire Las Vegas Valley metropolitan area. Owned and operated by the Board of Regents of the Nevada System of Higher Education on behalf of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), the station signed on the air on April 21, 1981. Operating out of state-of-the-art facilities inside Greenspun Hall at the Hank Greenspun School of Journalism and Media Studies on the UNLV campus, KUNV has evolved from its origin as an eclectic student-run station into one of North America's premier smooth jazz public broadcasting institutions, earning prestigious recognitions such as back-to-back Beats Magazine 'Station of the Year' honors. Programming on 91.5 Jazz and More presents an expertly curated daytime and evening playlist of contemporary smooth jazz, classic jazz standards, adult contemporary, modern R&B, and soul fusion. The station showcases works by world-renowned instrumentalists and vocalists alongside specialty weekend block programming, including local civic talk shows, Latin jazz, blues, and Hawaiian cultural features. During late-night hours, student-produced programming takes over the airwaves to broadcast independent rock, underground hip-hop, and electronic grooves. Beyond its musical offerings, KUNV acts as a vital broadcast media training laboratory for UNLV journalism and media students, providing hands-on experience in on-air hosting, digital production, and radio management. Broadcasting with an effective radiated power (ERP) of 12,000 watts from a high-elevation transmitter atop Arden Peak in Henderson, Nevada, KUNV's C1-class signal covers Clark County and the surrounding desert valley. Utilizing HD Radio digital broadcasting, KUNV also feeds HD2 subchannel 'The Beat' (UNLV student radio playing Top 40, hip-hop, and electronic dance music) and HD3 subchannel (simulcasting NPR news/talk from KUNR in Reno). In addition to terrestrial broadcast on 91.5 FM, the station streams live globally via its official university web portal, dedicated mobile apps, and digital audio streaming directories.
