87.9 The Lake

📖 About

87.9 The Lake is a quirky, independent 24/7 internet radio station celebrated for its eclectic and offbeat musical curation. Operating under the playful self-descriptor of being the '#1 for Weirrrd Music', the station broadcasts a vibrant mixture of classic rock, British Invasion hits, deep R&B, funk, and a suspicious amount of cowbell. Its distinct audio identity focuses on nostalgic retrospective tracks, deep cuts, and whimsical presentation that sets it apart from traditional commercial formats. The station's unique programming includes a heavily stylized lineup featuring signature shows such as its popular overnight program, 'Stream the Wax', hosted by the eccentric fictional or character personality known as 'Corn Pop'. Hailing from Ding Dong, Texas, the host brings a deadpan, humorous commentary style to late-night listeners, spinning classic tunes, quirky jams, and fun banter. The station's targeted audience comprises lovers of classic rock, retro pop culture enthusiasts, and anyone looking for an unconventional, humorous, and highly engaging alternative radio experience. Formally positioned as broadcasting 'from a lake' with ducks wearing headphones, 87.9 The Lake leverages modern digital streaming architecture rather than terrestrial airwaves to reach its global audience. Listeners can tune in continuously through live web streams on its official platform or via dedicated mobile applications available on the Apple App Store, ensuring fans can enjoy the lake's signature weirdness from anywhere in the world.
